Mt. Sinai, San Mateo
My first ever 12K run, second time sa trail run since I joined Merrel in 2011 at Timberland.
The race fee is Php 1,100.00 and as a preparation I enrolled at Slimmer’s World for Php. 5900.00 good for six months.
I was afraid and agitated if I could finish the race in four hours (cut off time), hindi biro ang trail run especially that you would encounter rough roads and dangerous trails along the way. Basta ang nasa isip ko lang, laban lang!
I met with Matet and Marvy at Jollibee farmers at 3 in the morning, we need to be in Mt. Sinai before 6 in the morning. We rode a jeep going to Cogeo and another jeep to Mt. Sinai (the trip is almost an hour).
Marvy gun start past 6 in the morning because he ran the 21K while me, I stayed near the stage for the warm up excersise, masyado ako pa-bibo that time – I enjoy the exercise as evident in my pictures taken by the organizers. The gun started and everyone was excited but we opted to walk because of flocks of people. The trail was downhill , some parts were narrow and arduous. Nakakahingal din. The tough part was the uphill near the cemented road, nakaka-ubos ng hininga pero keri pa din. I reached halfway at 7:15 AM, chill lang ako, enjoy the view and photo-ofs. I just preparing myself for the grueling return which composed of uphill trail. Umaraw na kaya mahirap na lalo, tapos medyo ubos na yung energy. In able to get some strength I played worship song from my phone and the song Still gave me courage to reach the end. Faith lang talaga.
It was 20 minutes before the cut-off when I reached the finish line, Matet was already there and I am happy seeing her because finally natapos ko na din ang 12K. I am grateful for this achievement, I didn’t imagine that I could pull off this trail and finished it within the given time.
Congratulations to me and hoping for another trail run in the future.
